Wise Road Run & Picnic

Saturday, July 10, 2021

9 a.m. gather, 9:30 a.m. depart

Event leaders: Bob and Genny Paauwe

No doubt you’ve all been keeping an eye on the weather in anticipation of this Saturday’s Wise Road Run & Picnic event. We have, too. It’s going to be a warm one! We’ve made some slight changes to the event, as follows, but still plan to hold it:

Start time and place remain the same: McBean Park (65 McBean Park Dr., Lincoln), 9 a.m. gather, 9:30 a.m. depart

The picnic portion is cancelled, but I have called Applebee’s in Auburn (off Bell Rd.) and we should have no problem showing up there around noon for a cool lunch indoors together scattered at tables/booths near each other

I don’t know about you, but we’re itching to just get out of the house. This may be a "top inspection” event where many of us report on the state of our soft or hard tops in the up position, but all the same, we will have a fun day out. Please bring plenty of water to stay hydrated along the route.

Please let me know if you have any questions. We’ll see you Saturday!

PS: I have 12 cars going at this time. Two people RSVP’d that I have to call with these additional details.Meeting point: McBean Memorial Park, 65 McBean Park Dr., Lincoln, CA 95648 (gather near the playground/jungle gym by the bathrooms)

We’re going to traverse Wise Road from the western start near Lincoln to its eastern end in Auburn. We’ll also get a look at Wise Powerhouse, Wise Canal and Wise Forebay. We’ll conclude in Auburn with a picnic lunch at Auburn Regional Park and Disc Golf Course. We’ll picnic near the pond, so be sure to pack your lunch, and a folding chair or a blanket and enjoy some time in the park with your SAMOA friends. Bring your Frisbee gear if you want to partake in some disc golf after the event.

The expected duration of the drive is about 2.5 hours, followed by an optional picnic lunch at the park. Printed instructions will be provided to everyone who RSVPs by July 9. Bring your mask if you plan to get up close and personal with fellow SAMOAns.
